Construction begins on a $2 million renovation of the Centerville Square Shopping Cent

Construction begins on a $2 million renovation of the Centerville Square Shopping Center located on Centerville Road between U.S. Route 30 and Marietta Pike (PA Route 23) in East Hempfield Township, Lancaster County, PA. The estimated completion date is set for October 30.

Lancaster, PA (Lancaster County) –April 6, 2015 – Centerville Development Company has begun a $2 million renovation of the 106,681 square foot shopping center it originally purchased in 1985 with a completion date scheduled for the end of October. As part of the renovation project, the existing canopy will be removed and replaced with canvas awnings and standing seam metal canopies. The existing facade will be enhanced with brick and stone as well as heavy cornice and dental molding details. In addition, the existing pylon sign will be replaced with a monument sign of similar size that will be architecturally compatible with the new appearance of the Shopping Center. Landscape islands, which will include shade trees, plants and flowers, will be installed in the parking lot in front of Giant Food to further enhance the appearance of the Shopping Center.

Centerville SquareThe exterior renovation was preceded by the relocation/expansion of the existing Wine & Spirits store, which re-opened in the former CVS/pharmacy space adjacent to Giant Foods last Fall as a new “Fine Wine & Good Spirits” Premium Store. Sales at the new 10,000 square foot store reportedly have exceeded expectations. The former Wine & Spirits space has been recently leased to Beerink, which is relocating/expanding from its 3,200 square foot building to the new 4,800 square foot space. The larger space will enable Beerink to carry more craft beers, which has exploded in popularity in recent years. Beerink is scheduled to open in its new location in May.

The renovation project is being financed by Woodmen of the World of Omaha, Nebraska. Construction services are being handled by Ames Construction, Inc. of Ephrata, PA. Site Work services will be handled by B.R. Kreider & Son, Inc. of Manheim, PA. Architectural services were provided by Bernadon, Haber & Holloway Architects, PC of Kennett Square, PA. Civil Engineering services were provided by RGS Associates, Inc. of Lancaster, PA.
